Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
This cave is about 4 kilometers past the residencial Los Jardines Orientales, turn right at the Free Zone just past the holiday inn hotel, keep going straight until you get to the residencial, there you must ask the security guards to bring you to the cave. This is a very bad area and unless you pay the guards to stay with the car IT WILL GET BROKEN INTO, for sure.
Also without local knowledge of were it is you will not find it, there are many paths everywhere and the sink is totally invisible hidden in dense overgrowth. Access is actually easy and you can park almost right in top of the access sink. walking down to the water although easy is super slippery so watch where you step.
the mainline starts right at the entrance and the first part is really big, the walls disappear in some places, viz is excellent throughout the system, however since very few people have actually dove here it will percolate in some places.
The line does a series of T's and goes through the various tunnels and breakdowns. This cave has rock similar to El Tildo very sharp and jagged swiss cheese style. There is a huge deep pit were it is hard to see the walls due to the size of the place, this pit bottoms out at about 30 meters and continues at the bottom into the unknown. The are numerous side tunnels and no mount tunnels that still have not been pushed all the way yet.
Discovered and first dove by Dennis Bourret
Suitable for any configuration, access is easy but you need to have someone to watch the car, this is a bad area and although it looks like wild jungle with nothing around there are a few really bad neighborhoods not very far away.
UNATTENDED CARS WILL GET BROKEN INTO FOR SURE!
