East Coast
OLEG's BAT HOUSE

This cave is in the middle of nowere and is a long drive from the main road, acess is difficult and involves some dry caving. First you need to go down two vertical ladders about 30mtrs vertical, then once at the bottom there is a guano covered slipery boulder slope in a big bat infested dry cave that needs to be climbed down, this will lead to a fairly big but shallow muddy sump. This cave is NOT for people who do not like bugs, there are roaches everywere, big Whipscorpions, Tarantulas and millions of really anoying flies that make it hard to breathe. There is also a potential Histoplasmosis risk due to the very large bat colony that lives in this cave, I personally always wear a respirator with at least a P95 or higher filter cartdrige just in case, and I switch to my reg (which I protect in a sealed plastic bag) as soon as I get in the water.
The entrance is through a tight resrticion to the left (when facing away from Guano slope)
You may need to remove a tank depending on how large you are, once through the restiction the cave opens up and is in fact quite wide pretty much everywere. Geologically and physicaly this cave does not have anything in common with any other Dominican caves, it looks radically different (see photo album or Natgeo video) very dark eroded tunnels thenall of a sudden will go to white plastic lookinh rock and it keeps changing all the time.
Some parts are very unstable and I almost had an entire slab on a side wall fall over on me just from making a tie off, keeping that in mind when diving this cave is a good thing.

This cave was discovered and first dove by Oleg Schevschuk in July of 2011.
